The theme ‘Receive Me Today’ is inspired by the prayer read during the canon of preparation for Communion as well as the people’s hymn chanted during Communion.
It is through these prayers that we are called to experience two key events (amongst many) that are relative to the modern Orthodox Christian:
The first being the purpose of our existence; the embodiment of Christ and His eventual sacrifice and shedding of His blood for our salvation. It is also during this chant that we are called to become partakers of the mystical supper, unworthy as we are.
It also calls to remembrance the thief, whilst hanging on the Cross with nothing left to offer and seeing the justification in his punishment uttered the words ‘Remember me O Lord in Your Kingdom’.
Throughout the weekend attendees will be educated about the importance of the sacrament of Holy Communion and be provided with the tools necessary to prepare oneself to partake of such a divine gift.
