Retreat Rules, Terms, and Conditions

Dearest In Christ,

Thank you for registering for the Antiochian Christian Orthodox Youth weekend retreat at the Antiochian Village in Goulburn.

We look forward to having a fantastic few days together in the name of Christ. Below is some important information below that will help you make the most of your time at the retreat.

General Terms and Conditions

All behaviour is expected to be in-line with Christ’s teachings and this will form the foundation of all rules including (but not limited to) the following:

  • Attendees must be aged 14-18 (with those aged 18 still in High School), on the date of the retreat
  • Attendees are expected to fully participate according to the calendar
  • The organisers (i.e. ACOY) and its representatives, reserve the right to:
    • Change the timetable
    • Change themes/topics
    • Disapprove a registration
    • Ask attendees to leave the retreat site
  • Antiochian Village is a monastery and conference centre in a residential area. This means:
    • Vehicles, attendees, activities must be kept to a reasonable sound limit
    • Lights-out times must be respected
  • Attendees are expected to abide by the Do’s and Don’ts while staying at the Antiochian Village

Drop off and Pick up


  • Transportation via bus has been organised for attendees. No car-pooling to the Village is accepted in the interest of your safety.
  • Buses will be departing from St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church, 11 Henry Street Punchbowl.
  • Please arrive by 3pm on Friday, July 8th, 2022 for a 3.30pm sharp departure
  • Parent/ guardians must be present with the attendee until they have been checked in by an ACOY representative.


  • Parents/guardians will be able to pick up attendees from St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church, 11 Henry Street Punchbowl, Sunday, July 10th, 2022 at 4.30 pm
  • ACOY representatives will be present with attendees until they have been picked up by a parent or guardian.
  • ACOY representatives will advise parents and guardians of any schedule changes.

Packing for the Retreat

  • Your Orthodox Study Bible
  • Service Books- Scroll down to the bottom of this page. You can:
    • Bring an iPad so you can follow an electronic copy (it is your responsibility to ensure that it is kept safe and responsibly used throughout the weekend)
    • Download and print your own booklet
  • Bed Sheets
  • Pillow and pillow case
  • Doona blanket
  • Sleeping bag
  • Toiletries
  • Towels
  • Enough clean clothing
  • Sneakers and clothing for outdoor activities
  • Sunscreen
  • Any Asthma kits/EpiPen’s/medication you need if you have medical conditions
  • Any other items within reason that will make you feel at home
  • Stereos, drums or any other items that will disturb the serenity.
    • Softer instruments such as guitars, harmonicas etc are welcome.
  • Energy drinks or alcohol
  • Any snacks that contain nuts as we have attendees with nut allergies present
  • Any illicit substances

These items are suggestions that will make your stay more comfortable:

  • Personal insect repellent
  • Appropriate footwear for shower

Food and Drink

  • If you have any dietary requirements that have not been specified upon registration, please contact an organiser ASAP
    • We also highly recommend you bring some snacks and, if possible, a ready meal.
  • Although we don’t have 5-star chefs we love a good meal and so we will cater the best quality, tastiest, freshest, healthiest and meals to the best of our ability

  • 7:45 pm – Activities followed by fellowship
  • 9:30 pm- Small Compline
  • 10.00 pm- Lights out
  • 8:30 am- 9:00 am Morning Prayers
  • 9:10 am – 10.00 am- Breakfast
  • 10:00 am – 10:30 am- Breakfast clean up
  • 11:00am- 12.15pm- Talk 1 by His Eminence Metropolitan Basilios
  • 12:15 pm – 12:25 pm- Morning tea
  • 12:25 pm-1:00 pm- Workshop 1
  • 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm- Lunch
  • 2:00 pm-2:15 pm- Lunch clean-up
  • 2:15 pm-3:30 pm- Talk 2 by Deacon Theophan Nahas
  • 3:30 pm-4:30 pm- Large Group Activity
  • 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm- Free time (with afternoon tea)
  • 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm- Showers and prepare for Great Vespers
  • 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm- Great Vespers
  • 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm- Dinner
  • 8:30 pm- 8.45 pm – Dinner clean up
  • 8.45 pm- 9.30 pm- Free time
  • 9.30 – 10.15 pm – Small Compline with Metalepsis (Canon of preparation for Communion)
  • 10.30 pm – Lights out
  • 8:30am – 9:00 am- Prayers before receiving Communion (prior to Matins)
  • 9:00 am – 11:30 am- Matins,  Liturgy and Thanksgiving Prayers after Communion
  • 11:30 am – 12:30 pm- Breakfast
  • 12:30 pm – 1:00 pm- Room pack up
  • 1:00 pm – 1.45 pm – Workshop 2
  • 1.45pm – 2.15pm – Large Group Debrief
  • 2:15 pm– Depart Antiochian Village
